The Voice of Nursing Leadership in St. Paul
The health care practice environment for nurse leaders is constantly changing. State laws and regulations have a significant impact on our ability to provide high quality care to our patients as well our patients' ability to access appropriate and affordable care. It is vital that nurse leaders make their voices heard at the state capitol as health care issues are discussed and voted upon. As a MOLN member, you will be kept informed on issues affecting your practice and we will provide mechanisms for you to share your perspectives with lawmakers.
MOLN's annual Nursing Public Policy Internship is an intensive two-day workshop providing didactic and experiential learning surrounding health care public policy advocacy. Participants in the internship learn about the key steps to effect change in the legislative process and to get a bill into law. During the course we will describe how to be involved and influence policy at the local and national level and how to work effectively with legislators and legislative staff to advance a policy agenda.
MOLN members have the opportunity to come to the Capitol to directly lobby their legislators at one of our several "MOLN at the Capitol" events scheduled throughout the legislative session. These events are organized to provide direct lobbying experiences for nurse leaders with professional guidance from an experienced professional lobbyist.
