The Minnesota Organization of Leaders in Nursing was formed by the merger in October 1994 of the Minnesota Organization of Nurse Executives (MONE) and the Minnesota Council of Nurse Managers (MCNM). MONE dates back to 1984, and its membership consisted of nurse executives from hospitals across Minnesota. MCNM was formed in 1989 when Minnesota nurse managers desired to form an organization that provided opportunities for education and networking with other Minnesota nurse managers. These two organizations identified many common goals and interests, and they were spurred by the belief that together they could be more effective.
As they began envisioning the new organization, it quickly became apparent that leaders from all facets and levels of nursing have common goals and educational needs. Therefore, membership in MOLN is open to all licensed registered nurses in the state of Minnesota who view themselves as leaders.
MOLN's mission addresses facilitating the professional development of nursing leaders. This is achieved through district and statewide meetings and conferences. Working with other nursing organizations is another facet of the mission of MOLN. |
